How to Use Trance Music:
To achieve, within 10 minutes, a refreshing and uplifting dopamine rush---without using drugs.
As Dance Music or Exercise Music
For Working/Studying: As background/motivation music to keep one focused and energized (& awake) while
working, including
programming,
math, spreadsheet work, data,
organizing/filing, and writing;
To deliberately change or shape one's mood or emotions to achieve a particular desired emotional or mental
state: Eg,
- Uplift oneself
- Energize oneself
- Make onself content or happy
- Achieve the above-mentioned rush, or, in general, the effects listed here. (Note:
Often beauty or emotion in trance music will induce goosebumps, but goosebumps are completely different from
a rush & are not often something people deliberately set out to achieve.)
- Zone out
- Calm down, wind-down, or de-stress
- Go to sleep
As Chill-Out/Ambient/Lounge Music
As elfenix53 wrote, "#TATW (Trance Around the World) 315 + Coffe = Very Good Software ;-) ... "Converting Trance
&
Caffeine into code" XD..."
Note:
There's a big difference between background music (as I define it) and chill-out. Background music is designed
to help you do
something else such as work while you listen, so that the music helps you focus or stay energized/motivated. But
chill-out
music is
designed to relax or zone out to, or to hang out with others in a laid-back way.
Whaat makes especially good background music or work-music is progressive trance without an attention-getting or
distracting climax or melody. Trance music that generates a rush or is too uplifting is obviously not good as
background music.
A key criterion of ambient and background music is that it not call attention to itself, that one not even notice the
music is there, especially if one is absorbed in something else.
The left & below links show 4 trance genres:
- Uplifting/Anthem Tr.
- Progressive Trance - Vocal Trance - Balearic Trance
(Within these, trance producers
often merge trance with house,
jazz, ambient, classical, indie,
electro, psy-trance, pop, hip-
hop, techno, alt., Euro/HiNRG,
Latin, chill-out, or downtempo.)
